Dossier · Who's Who
Sen. Martin Heinrich
Senior U.S. Senator for New Mexico (since 2013), engineer by training, former Albuquerque city councilor and NM-1 congressman. As ENR Ranking Member and co-chair of the Senate AI Caucus he holds the federal energy-and-AI portfolio most relevant to Project Jupiter. In a June 22, 2026 Latitude Media interview timed to his SunZia transmission line going fully online, he faulted AI data-center developers for “a healthy dose of arrogance” and late, thin community engagement — naming emissions, water use, and rising electricity prices as legitimate concerns — but did not name Jupiter. No floor statement, press release, or letter from his office naming Project Jupiter is in the public record. His donors include renewable developers (Pattern Energy, NextEra, LS Power, Xcel) that compete with gas-powered AI campuses for grid access.
